The Call  of the Wild

Each night he  watched her approach with  her head held high. Each night she wantonly crossed his path and each night he watched, noting everything about her. Each step was purposeful. Each step was confident. Each step – resolute.

Her sleek linear body rippled invitingly as she stepped ever closer. She turned her head to check her admirer was indeed admiring. She knew what she had and she knew what he wanted.

Assured of his attention, she continued her passage along this thoroughfare. This route, the artery between two very different sides of town.

She turned her head towards him again. This time the moonlight caught her eyes and diamonds sparkled, crisp and bright. She was bewitching him with each sway of her hips. She  continued to walk with a hypnotic rhythm and  was nearing the wilds of the other side of town. He still watched, waiting for her to turn her head one more time before leaving his path and entering the unwelcome gloominess of the darkness.

She did indeed stop.

His heart started pounding.

She slowly turned her head to look over her shoulder. She knew he wanted to follow. She slowly took the next few steps still swaying her hips, giving him him hope, giving him encouragement.

Sparks crackled deeply down inside him. His whole body ached for her.

Yet he was rooted to the ground. Just watching. Just admiring. Just wanting.

Should he give in to his nature to follow her into the darkness or should he wait and catch her tomorrow?

The temptation was proving too strong as the foggy air hung seductively around where she paused. Her  musky pheromones tortured his senses.

He could smell her scent.

One more enticing glance into his eyes, twinkled with the devilment inside her She knew the effect she was having on him.  She knew what would  make him follow.

Slowly –

Enticingly –

She unfurled her tail, raising it high into the still evening air, revealing, clearly what really was on his mind. She disappeared into the undergrowth.

She had gone

But now he followed –

Captured and enraptured by the call of the wild.
