Number Four was smitten.

Ever since he opened the door to the gleaming, smart visitor Four had fallen under her spell. Try as hard as he could he couldn’t scowl and growl as he did with other girls. This beautiful woman had taken over his senses. He knew there was an age gap as he was only seven but he was going to marry her and live happily ever after. She would have to wait until he was sixteen or eighteen but in that time Four would save up his pocket money and become a footballer or a fighter pilot. He hadn’t decided yet and anyway he had plenty of time and would ask her what she would prefer him do.

It was real love and Four had even managed to swop a stalagmite for an engagement ring from his sister Tina. Tina had been curious as to who the ring was for but Four was going to keep his secret  love away from all his brothers and sister until Four and she were engaged. He was sure Tina would spot the ring on his beloved ‘s finger and therefore knew it would not remain a secret.

And so it was Four would spend time trying to scowl and growl as he always did but just went to mush whenever she was around. He just hoped no one but she noticed and now it was a matter of getting her alone to declare his love, give her the ring and decide whether to be a footballer or fighter pilot or maybe something else she might want him to be.

This was a hard time for a seven year old boy in love and under the watchful eye of the family.
